MOTHER SLAYS DAUGHTER IN DESPONDENCY

(By Associated Press)

NEW YORK, Feb. 9.—Mrs. Emily Havre, a young widow, was found by the police today sitting in her apartment beside the body of her 12 year old daughter Margaret, who had been killed by a revolver.

The police reported that the mother shot the child Saturday in a period of despondency, intending to kill herself, but lost her courage.

When charged with homicide, Mrs. Havre confessed shooting her daughter, claiming that financial worries had temporarily unbalanced her mind, according to the police. She was held without bail.
