LITTLE ARTHUR GREEN'S FATE.
He Fatally Shoots Himself While Playing With a Shotgun.
The deplorable foolishness of placing guns where children can get hold of them was again illustrated yesterday morning at Aug. Dorch's house, No. 331 M street southwest. It appears that about 10 o'clock little Arthur Green, a white boy, who lives at 339 M street, came into the rear yard of Mr. Dorch's house with a double-barreled shotgun, and began to show his small companions the way it worked. The child was only eight years of age, and he did not know any more about it than the others, only he made believe he did. He placed the gun alongside the house and then tried to look down the barrel, but finding it impossible he placed the muzzle up against his breast and then leaned down and pulled at the trigger. It was the old story, the gun was loaded, and the shot took effect in the boy's body, killing him instantly. He was picked up and carried to his father's home at 331 M street, and the coroner was notified.
