His Majesty's ship Boston, Aug. 18th.
Lieut. Alcock boarded the schr. Agnes, J. P. Hunt, master, from Barbadoes, which place she left the 21st ult. Mr. Thomas, a gentleman passenger on board her, informed him that, by the mail from the British Packet, the news of War with Spain was received, in consequence of which Lord Seaforth, the Governor of Barbadoes, had issued Letters of Marque against Spanish vessels. The Dash. Capt. Smith, had taken one and sailed on a cruize; Mr. Thomas said the one furnished Capt. Smith he had seen, and it was signed by Lord Seaforth.

Lieut. Alcock boarded the brig Greenwich, from Havana, J. P. Remington, master, who informed him that he sailed from the Havannah the 14th inst. in company with a Spanish frigate supposed bound to Europe, and that he had been informed, the French Government had demanded twenty sail of the line from the Spanish, to permit them to remain neutral for eight months.
