STRIKE IS ORDERED ALL OVER ENGLAND
Fruitless Conference Between Unions and Board of Trade---Troops on Guard---Situation Serious

London, Aug. 18.-The struggle between the railroad companies and the striking union employees is on in dead earnest today. Thousands have obeyed the strike order and other thousands have continued at work.

The companies are operating their principal trains under modified schedules.

The government and the board of trade are continuing their efforts toward peace, but without indications of immediate success.

There has been rioting at Birmingham, Derby, Sheffield and at Llanelly, Wales.

The view the industrial war as so grave that parliament will not adjourn, as had been expected today, but will continue, prepared to adopt any emergency legislation the moment it is necessary.

Though the railroads were by no means tied up tonight, the service was chaotic, despite the presence of troops with fixed bayonets.

Messrs. Thomas, Edward, Baskerville and Collier Hardy, and their families, Messrs. Will and Charles Evans, and families, Mr. Watt Hairston and family, and Dr. Oliver and family, who have been camping at Kolola Springs for the past fortnight, broke camp Friday and returned to their respective homes.

Mrs. James Easton has returned home after spending some time at Iuka Springs, where she was delightfully located.
