We have Advice from Quebec. That some Time in last Month, Capt. Dobson in a Sloop being sent with a Party of 40 Soldiers to be stationed at a Place called Saquennay, just as he entered that Harbour, a Schooner which lay at Anchor, hoisted French Colours and fired upon him, wounded one Man, and killed three Oxen: The Commander of the Party ordered them to return the Fire with Small Arms, which they did: and on the third Volley the Schooner struck, having had one Man killed: Capt. Dobson sent her up to Quebec. This Schooner mounted 6 Carriage Guns, and sailed from France early last Spring, laden with Beef, Flour, and other Stores, and designed to get up above Quebec before our Vessels; but having got into the River, they discovered the English Men of War going up: Whereupon they put into a Harbour, and traded the whole Summer with the French and Indians, and employed themselves in catching and curing Fish, of which they had above 200 Quintals. Their Vessel proving bad, and Winter coming on, they had determined the first Opportunity to take one of our Traders, and put their Cargo on board, and proceed to the West Indies, or return to France: and were laying in wait when Capt. Dobson met with her.

They returned fire with small arms; on the third volley, the schooner struck. The schooner, mounting 6 carriage guns, had sailed from France early last spring with stores, traded with French and Indians, caught and cured over 200 quintals of fish, and planned to capture an English trader due to its poor condition and approaching winter.
