Goes On Stabbing Spree In Indiana

SOUTH BEND. Ind.-(ANP) For some unexplainable reason, Richard Watson, Jr., 23, of Memphis drew a knife and stabbed four persons on a downtown street here Friday night. He even resisted arrest and it took ten officers to finally subdue him.

According to police, Watson suddenly drew a knife and attacked Gilbert H. McIntyre, 47-year-old patient of a sanatorium. The victim was knocked down and stabbed in the leg. Watson then ran down the street and stabbed Harvy T. Barr, 41, William Dugan, 55, and Madden G. Ralson, 51.

Taken to police station, Watson reached for his pocket as if to draw his gun and was shot once in each leg. He remained on his feet, however, and fought furiously until police finally overpowered him.
