Ministers For Defence.
Brockton Enterprise.
Clergymen at Manchester, N. H., in a meeting took this action: "Resolved: That the Manchester Ministerial association endorses the movement in favor of a sane and necessary preparedness for national defence, without delay."
Copies of the resolution are to be sent to members of the New Hampshire delegation in congress. That is the proper spirit, and when it is shown by men who love peace and preach its effect. These gentlemen are not advocating war for aggression. They do not want to see war brought on. They are not among those who believe that if you go out and lie down in the street an approaching runaway horse will at once stop and won't run over you. They do not believe that if a town buys a fire engine fires will break out, while if the town is wholly at the mercy of the flames there will never be a fire. They have seen in Belgium, in Poland, in Serbia, in Montenegro and in parts of France what an invasion means. It is a wonderful example of men's blindness that everybody can't see it and can't understand the lesson it teaches.
