Full Text

A Philadelphian had occasion to put up at a hotel in Virginia a short time since, and soon ascertained that the President had lodged at the same house a few weeks previous, and had paid his bill in gold. When the Philadelphian received his bill, he tendered United States Bank paper, but this "mine host" refused. The Philadelphian expressed surprise, assured the other that the bills were as good as gold, but it was of no avail; the tavern keeper asserted that he had been warned upon the subject by General Jackson himself!-Phil.
