I hear that a Cabinet council was held yesterday on the subject of our relations with Mexico, and especially in reference to the recent doings of the Santa Anna party; and that it was determined to take no further step diplomatic or belligerent, in regard to Mexico until the result of the revolution shall be known.
The policy is to make inactive - which is to wait in quiet till the army at least of Gen. Taylor is to continue to menace Matamoros until the Santa Anna's government shall be established. If diplomacy should then fail the war is to be resumed in earnest, and means are to be had to carry out every cabinet naval establishment where it is so careless then it last. Lieut. Peemes decorated with the army, best who is acquainted with the topography and by land geography of the Mexican coast are to be called and have already been consulted in trying to make more effectual moves on Vera Cruz.
