LOS ANGELES. Oct. 10. (U.P)-
Los Angeles county today assumed liability for injuries and fatalities arising on any relief project, and ordered more than 6,000 destitute men to return to work tomorrow.
The decision was a direct outgrowth of the Griffith Park catastrophe, which cost the lives of 28 workmen, with 12 still reported missing, and injured more than 100.
The relief workers were withdrawn from all projects immediately after the fire until the problem of liability could be solved.
City council today passed a resolution authorizing the board of supervisors to take over direction of work in Griffith Park, thus legally relieving the municipality of any responsibility for them. The supervisors then ordered the projects to proceed.
Resolutions of both bodies provided that during the next 90 days not more than 6,000 men will be employed each day in the park, the county to supply the labor only.
