The absolute ruler of 19,200,000, and 225th descendant of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba, was accompanied by his third son, granddaughter, and a royal entourage. They reached Glendale Sanitarium and Hospital at Glendale, Calif., Wednesday evening schedule with a short press conference.
TOUR OF PARK
The party arrived from a tour of Sequoia National Park, and the 500-mile motorcade trip to Los Angeles had visibly wearied the group.
Tired but unbowed, the tiny monarch told of the similarity of Ethiopia's and California's climate and terrain and said he hoped the United States and his country could work out a plan whereby some of his young students could attend agricultural colleges here.
Selassie expressed pride at the accomplishments of colored Americans, saying "I am proud of the contribution of colored people of African descent toward the development of this great country, and I wish them great happiness and continued cooperation between all races."
The tiny ruler, dressed in a full field marshal's uniform, said he is grateful for the great work of America.l missionaries in his ancient land, and promised his continued interest and support.
MISSION IN ETHIOPIA
One of his first greeters was Dr. George Bergman, who for years had worked with the Seventh Day Adventists mission in Ethiopia The Glendale Sanitarium and Hospital is an Adventists-sponsored institution.
The doughty ruler, whose ragged forces in 1935 first resisted the onslaught of aggression by Mussolini's Italian armies, reaffirmed his belief in the principles of collective security and said the United Nations is the only hope for world peace dua prosperity.

The party returned to the Ambassador for the Mayor's luncheon, where Stiassie said of his Los Angeles visit:
"We art greatly impressed by the numbcr and variety of your industries, one of which is the cinema more a cultural achievement per- hans than an industry.
"We wisb that time would per- mit us also to visit extensively your rich neritage of cultural institutions."
In his jrivate suite, Emperor Selassie presented Mayor Poulson a decoration, electing him a Grand Officer of the Order of the Star of Ethiopia.
Though the Emperor speaks and reads English and French, all of his rema ks during his visit here were in_ Amharic, official Ethiopian language.
Following luncheon, th party sped twenty-two miles in limousines to the Los Angeles harbor at Long Beach fot a 45-minute tour of the harbor area. The Emperor careful- Iv studiad' transient cargo sheds there-la'geet in the world.

From Mexico, the party will travel to New Crieans and Fort Benning, Georgia and end his 57-day tour of the United States, Canada and Mexico . New York on June 26.
