LIVING UP TO BROWNIE PROMISE is Sally C. Watkins, new member to the Farmville troop who truly believes that charity begins at home. She surprised her parents, day after her first Brownie meeting, by getting up early to fix breakfast.
Quiet! There's A Brownie At Work!
Remember Little Orphan Annie's warning. The goblins will get you if you don't watch out. Well, it wasn't the goblins that got into the house of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Watkins when they weren't watching nor suspecting a thing it was the Brownies. Actually it was one Brownie and she was a Brownie even if she wasn't wearing a brown dress and saucy little brown hat she was a new recruit into the Brownie fold and it takes a little time to outfit one in the proper costume. But there are other ways of telling a Brownie as you can well see from this story.
Everyone in the big house at 702 High Street was fast asleep at 6:45 Wednesday morning. At least so thought Mrs. Watkins as she roused herself to the alarm. With her usual custom she padded to the bathroom to take a shower before she went about making up the sleeping household and fixing breakfast.
But someone had been up long before the alarm went off or before Mrs. Watkins cause there was the breakfast table, set for four, with orange juice and milk at each place. Mrs. Watkins had to rub her eyes a couple of times to believe what she saw and by the time she got through doing that the bacon had been popped into the frying pan and was beginning to sizzle. It was just too much!
Mrs. Watkins ran into the bedroom where her husband was getting dressed and said, 'Shad come quickly There's a Brownie in the house!' And guess who that Brownie was? Why it was Sally C., the Watkins older daughter, who had joined the Brownies just the day before.
While the family was eating Sally- breakfast the new Brownie exclaimed 'Mother, I think the Brownies are Wonderful! We learned here are two things that are most important for Brownies to always remember. One is to always trust God And the other is to think of ways to help other people especially the folks at home.'
