FOES OF FARM STRIKE ARMING
Pledged to Aid All Wishing to Reach Market: Second Bridge Fired
SIOUX CITY, Iowa, Nov. 7.-. (UP).-A "law and order league" has been organized by farmers, unsympathetic with the national farm strike.
Armed with shotguns, members of the league escorted two milk trucks safely through picket lines today and announced they are willing to help any farmer who wanted an escort.
PICKET LINES ARE TIGHTENED
DES MOINES, Iowa, Nov. 7.-. (UP).-Embattled mid-western farmers today drew picket lines about market centers in an effort to force immediate acquiescence in their demands for increased prices.
In many sections striking farmers ruled the highways today with violence. Two men have been killed and more than 30 injured since the strike was initiated two weeks ago. Thousands of dollars worth of property has been destroyed.
The second railroad bridge burned in the past 24 hours was reported to have been destroyed on the main line of the Illinois Central between Cleghorn and Meriden, Iowa, today. The origin of the fire which destroyed the 60-foot bridge was not known.
The bridge on the Great Northern line near James, Iowa, was destroyed yesterday.
