Exciting News-Tremendous Battle.
New York, Oct. 16.--The Collins steamer Baltic has arrived in the lower Bay, and the following important intelligence has been transmitted to the city by the San ly Hook Telegraph:
Battle at Sebastopol.--The allied forces had drawn up before Sebastopol and a terrible battle ensued, resulting in the fall of the city, which was soon in flames. The loss of the English and French army amounted to 10,000 killed, while the Russians loss embraced 8,000 killed and 22,000 taken prisoners. The Russians also lost one thousand guns and ten ships of war, which were sunk in the harbor. Notwithstanding these immense losses, Prince Menschikoff refused to surrender with the shattered remains of his army.
