COMMUNICATED.
The citizens of this town were very much gratified at the first experiment of the new horse boat built by Mr. Hayward, for a ferry boat to ply across the Potomac. She performed her trip without the buckets in her wheels in 20 minutes across the Potomac and 21 back. We have not had an opportunity of witnessing the performance of the boat above spoken of; but we are informed that she goes remarkably well in her present state, and that, when entirely finished, it is believed, she will cross the river in 15 minutes, with ease; which, should it prove so, will be of material importance to our town and the neighboring country on the opposite shore, in the transportation of produce, &c. as she is intended to carry on deck two wagons and teams with their loads, at the same time, without the trouble of ungearling. We shall probably, visit the boat, and endeavor to give a more accurate description of her & also the advantages which it is thought will result from her.
