The Providence Journal announces an important discovery in Animal Magnetism in the following terms.—We copy the paragraph for the benefit of all lovers of the marvellous:
A scientific gentleman who has devoted much time to this subject, and for several months entertained the opinion that Animal Magnetism is a fluid, subject to laws similar to those which govern electricity, galvanism, &c. has, after a series of experiments, arrived at results, which promise to give an entire new complexion to the science. He has not only satisfactorily ascertained the truth of his opinions, but has constructed an apparatus by which the fluid can be transported to any place without losing its virtue, and administered without the presence or knowledge of the magnetizer. The fluid, thus conveyed, produces all the phenomena of animal magnetism, when produced by manipulations, and an instance has come to our personal knowledge, in which it has been efficiently used in inducing a state of complete somnambulism. We have seen the apparatus, but are not sufficiently versed in science to give a description of it.
