Farm Home of Mike Campbell Burns to Ground

The farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Garland (Mike) Campbell of the Benrud community was completely destroyed by fire early Monday morning, the cause being an overheated stovepipe.

Mr. Campbell arose early and built up the fires and went outside to attend to the morning chores. Upon returning to the house he remarked to Mrs. Campbell that the fires were pretty hot and the stoves were closed off and the family had eaten breakfast and Mr. Campbell left the house to discover smoke pouring out from under the roof. When he came in and started to open up the passage to the attic the draft immediately started a conflagration that made anything but escape impossible. A few pieces of living room furniture were dragged out but aside from that all the Campbells could do was stand and watch their home go up in flames.

The Campbells had just recently purchased the house from Roy Hansen in Wolf Point. It was a former rooming house located across from the Hansen Implement shop and had been moved out and completely renovated and refurnished so that practically everything was new.

The loss is beyond estimate at present but the Mike Campbells can see the better side and consider themselves lucky to get the family out and that there was no wind to take the barns and equipment up in smoke.

Neighbors and friends of the Campbell's have arranged for a benefit dance to be held at the Vaw hall in Wolf Point Saturday evening, Nov. 8.
