4-H Club Camp Is Fixed for June 14.
Washington City
College Station, Raleigh, April 11. —The eighth national 4-H club camp will be held in Washington, June 14-20, under the supervision of the U. S. Department of Agriculture, L. R. Harrill, 4-H club leader at State College, announced today.
North Carolina may send two club leaders. two club boys. and two club girls to the camp. The delegates will be selected by Dean I. O. Schaub of State College. director of extension service in this State.
Each delegate must have been at least 15 years old on January 1, 1934 but not more than 20 years Of age. Each delegate must have been an active member in 1933, and have completed three years of club work involving result demonstrations. Consideration will also be given ability in leadership and community service.
Delegates will be selected with consideration of the score they make on the following points: The candidate's record of club achievements. 40; past participation in community activities, 20; leadership activities, 20; story "My Experience as a 4-H Club member," 10; physical fitness. 10.
The objectives of the national 4-H club camp are to acquaint the club leaders and delegates with the work of the United States Department of Agriculture. 'to provide opportunity for conferences on 4-H extension plans and to carry out a program designed to emphasize the development of rural leadership and a richer, fuller life for all those living in the country.
The department of agriculture will furnish free of charge the camp site, housing facilities. and equipment. The State will make arrangements for the expenses of travel and meals while in Washington.
