NEW YORK, July 21.

Extract from the Votes of the General Assembly of New-York.

Die Mercurii, 18th June, 1746.

A Message from his Excellency by Mr. Goldsbrow Banyar D. Cl. Con. which being read, is in the Words following, viz.

Gentlemen,

I look upon it to be a Matter of great Concern to the present Expedition, that the Six Nations of Indians, and others in Alliance with and dependant upon them, should be engaged with us in the War ; I have, with that View, ordered the Commissioners of Indian Affairs, immediately to send up a Message to them, to invite them to meet at Albany, on the 20th of next Month : And in Order to bring this Design to Effect, I am commanded by his Majesty, to make them such Presents as I think may be of Use for the Purpose ; and I think 'tis proper likewise, that the Colony should make them some additional Present at the same Time : If you are of that Opinion, you will make timely Provision accordingly.

And that my Endeavours may be rendered yet more effectual, I have wrote to the several Governors to the Westward, and to the Governors of the Massachusetts-Bay and Connecticut, recommending it to them. to endeavour that their respective Governments do bear their Proportion of the Expense, which will attend the engaging the Indians in the War ; that the joint Influence of these Colonies may be exerted, for the Accomplishment of an Event, which would greatly facilitate the present Undertaking, and give us still further Assurance of the Success of it : and in the Interim, tend much to the Security of our Northern Frontiers.

That the Indians may be induced to join heartily with us, I think you should also provide for proper Encouragement for them ; and the sooner it is known what they are to be allowed for Bounty and Subsistence, the better.

As I have had no Directions from his Majesty, to provide Battoes, Tents, or other Particulars for the intended Expedition, (except Arms and Cloathing) and as the Forces cannot proceed without Things necessary, I desire to be speedily informed, whether you will make Provision for them, as well for the Use of the Troops to be raised in this Province, as for such of his Majesty's regular Troops posted here, as I may think proper to order to march, and Occasion may require.

Mr. Collins, the Town-Major of Albany, sustains a heavy and expensive Duty, in the Execution of that Office, for which I think it proper and just, an annual Allowance should be made him suitable to that Service.

G. CLINTON.

On Tuesday last his Excellency our Governor, in the Presence of his Majesty's Council, and the General Assembly of this Colony, was pleased to give his Assent to the following Acts passed this Session, viz.

An Act for the more effectual preventing the Exportation of Provisions and warlike Stores.

An Act for continuing the several Actions, Pleadings, and Processes and Proceedings which were commenced and depending in the late inferiour Courts of common Pleas for Westchester County.

An Act for the Encouraging of Volunteers to enlist into his Majesty's Service, upon the Expedition against Canada.
An Act for raising a Supply of £40,000, by a Tax on Estates real and personal, for carrying on the Expedition against Canada; for emitting Bills of Credit for the like Sum; and for sinking and cancelling the said Bills in short Periods, and for other Purposes therein mentioned.

An Act for impressing Ship Carpenters, House Carpenters, Joiners, Sawyers, and their Servants, and all other Artificers and Labourers, for the building of Battoes; and also for impressing Horses, Waggons, and all other Things necessary for carrying on the Expedition against Canada with the utmost Dispatch.

An Act to detach 300 Men from the City and County of Albany, to serve on the intended Expedition against Canada. And

An Act for fixing and determining the Drawing of the publick Lottery for this Colony, on or before the first of September next.

And then the General Assembly was adjourned to Tuesday the 29th of this Instant.
