COMMUNICATION
"There is many a true word spoken in jest."
The following paragraph is extracted from a late London paper.
"Bonaparte is anxious to know by what law we rule the ocean." The answer is easy, Cannon law"
If Bonaparte doubts the truth of this let him call upon America and she will prove it. The blood of the murdered Pierce will seal it. The groans of three thousand brave and free born seamen, and the distress of our commerce, will convince the world that Britain has abandoned all other law than what is fulminated from the mouth of her cannon. The laws of honor and good faith have been smothered by the smoke of her power. Justice has fled from her shores, and piracy and rapine taken full possession of her ancient dominion. But the end is not yet."--Balt. Evening Post.
