NEW-YORK, Sept. 30.

Tuesday last Capt. Wright arrived here from the Bay of Honduras in 39 Days: He says Mr. Cook's Negroes keeps Possession of great Part of the New-River, and that they have been joined by so many of their Brethren who have lately deserted from their Masters, that they are now 70 strong, and well armed: That they sent a Scout to the Spaniards, to know whether they might have Protection there in case the English obliged them to remove; but they were answered in the Negative, and immediately ordered to their own Territories: that they have killed Several Seamen belonging to the Vessels there, that were going up the River in Crafts, and among them one Man belonging to Capt. Wright, three to Capt. Keerslead, one Spaniard, that wanted to treat with them in Favour of the English, and three to a London Ship: and that a Craft with 11 Men was missing, and 'twas supposed had fallen into their Hands, and was murdered by them: that the Negroes were in short become formidable, and that the poor Baymen were So intimidated, that many of them were obliged to desert their Works, and were at a Loss for an Asylum.
