Neglect of School Property.-

A patron of "Wickersham" school in a note covering his subscription to The Whig for another year, and which note we mislaid last week, complains that books and other school property are not properly taken care of: that the school house is in bad repair, windows broken, and roof none of the best, and that the shutters are not closed at night, and at other times when the house is unoccupied, but left to bang and flop when the wind blows. To leave the shutters open at night and on holidays is an excellent way to insure broken windows, and when teachers practice such carelessness with school property, it is pretty good evidence that they are not much as teachers, and should have their certificates revoked.

Systematic painstaking is the most important constituent of a good teacher.
