3,876 INDUCTED THROUGH BOARDS

A grand total of 3,876 men have been inducted into the armed forces through Draft Board No. 1 for Wilmington and Draft Board No. 2 for New Hanover county since the passing of the Selective Service act in 1940, according to figures obtained from the two boards yesterday.

Board No. 1 has inducted 1,887 white men and 686 negroes. Board No. 2 has called 1,094 white men and 209 negroes.

These figures do not include members of the 120th Infantry, Company I, the 252nd Coast Artillery, Battery A; and the 105th Medical unit, Company A, all National Guard units which entered service prior to passage of the Selective Service act.

The total also does not include 17-year-olds nor any men who entered service by volunteering at a navy recruiting station.
