ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. A group of Negro Boy Scouts here have written the governor asking his help in behalf of a white boy convicted of assault and sentenced to 17 years in prison.
In their letter the scouts stated that the racial identity of the boy did not matter they felt that the judge should not have given such long sentence. They requested that he be sent to a training school.
State Parole Commissioner Jones wrote the group that a thorough investigation was being made since their request had been sent to him by the governor.
