The Town has been surprised lately with the Fame of a young Woman at Epsom, who, tho' not very regular, it is said, in her Conduct, has wrought such Cures that Seem miraculous in the Bone-setting Way; even the crooked she has render'd straight, and those that have been lame for several Years she has set a walking, to the great Astonishment of the Beholders.

But notwithstanding all her Art, and the Relief she brought to the Unfortunate, she was resolved to supply other Wants; and happening to cast an Eye on one Mapp, a Servant to Mr. Ibbetson the Mercer, she determined to give herself to him as a Wife; but great Application was made to her by the Gentlemen and Ladies in and about the Town of Epsom, not to carry her Purpose into Execution; however, all their Importunities availed nothing: She said she would never come near the Town again, if they opposed her Marriage any farther.

In short, She was followed by several Coaches, and People on Horseback, on the Road, there being several unhappy Creatures waiting at Epsom for their Cure, and among the rest, a Child brought by Sir James Edwards, in his Chariot, whose Neck was dislocated, so as to lie double for near Two Inches; but She would not undertake the Cure, 'til they let her go peaceably and be married, but promised to return as soon as the Ceremony was over, and make that her first Operation.

She was accordingly married to Mr. Hill Mapp, at St. Allhallow's Church, on Wednesday Morning.

August 10. Last Friday Morning, the Right Honourable the Lord Baltimore came to Epsom, and was present, with many Ladies and Gentlemen, and saw Mrs. Mapp perform an Operation on the Daughter of the Widow Armstead, a Shoemaker in Gracechurch-Street, a young Woman of 14 Years of Age, whose Shoulder, Elbow, and Wrist were out, which she performed to much to his Lordship's Satisfaction, that he gave her five Guineas, tho' he was there only as a Spectator, saying, it was to encourage her for the public Good.
