Full Text

An equalization of weights and measures being accomplished throughout France, a new classification of terms is adopted. The above equalization is upon decimal principles, and so far, correct; but in the French coinage of words to express the different measures, we hear the gipsy stile, and classical ears are wounded with the guttural sounds of "decagramme," "hectogramme," "myriagramme," and "kilogramme." The last word, we think bears no very obscure relation to the new order of things in France.
