THE PHI GAMMA DELTA.

The National Convention to Begin To-Day—Some of the Prominent Delegates Already Here.

The nineteenth general convention of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity convenes to-day at the Bates House. At an informal meeting last evening among the members present were: Frank Keck, W. B. Atterbury, Purdy Van Vliet, of New York; E. G. Barratt, H. L. Stateler, of Allentown, Pa.; Prof. M. H. Richards, Gettysburg, Pa.; J. S. Houck, J. E. Wiley, N. R. Spencer, H. V. Hotchkiss, Wm. Basson, G. W. Benton, R. H. Patton, J. H. Hunter, Chas. B. Dewees, Geo. W. Woods, J. W. Clark, Andrew Lockridge, W. E. Finley, Chas. Battorff, W. M. Baird, S. M. Moffett, E. P. Wright, D. C. Porter, W. A. Belt, C. B. Wiley, Chas. W. Watts, Andrew Hanna, John Lockridge, Jas. Taylor, T. J. Gibboney, John S. Hunt, Prof. J. M. Baird, J. W. Chapman, Clarence Murphy, E. Jacoby, Ellis Lovejoy, J. B. Wiley, D. A. Myers. The delegates were from New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Kansas, Illinois and Ohio, and many other delegates will arrive to-day. The annual banquet will take place this evening at 9:30 o'clock at the Bates House. An oration and poem, by Prof. Riopath, of Asbury and Prof. Richards, of Muhlenberg, will be given on Thursday evening at a public meeting, for which invitations will be issued. The sessions of the convention proper will continue until Friday. The Phi Gamma Delta fraternity is one of the largest and most powerful in the country, and among its members are many gentlemen of national prominence.
