NORFOLK, JAN. 26, 1821. The wind lulled considerably yesterday morning, and it continued calm throughout the day, yet the intensity of the cold was greater than on Wednesday. At 7 o'clock A. M. the thermometer stood at 30, and at 9 o'clock, in a south room, at 20 degrees below the freezing point. Several of our oldest inhabitants assert, that they have not experienced such severe weather since the year 1780. Although our experience does not extend so far back, we think we can say with safety, that we have never felt the cold so sensibly in this section of the United States.
