CRESCENT CITY BATTALION.

The community is getting every day more and more enthused over the competitive drill of the Crescent City Battalion, which is to take place at the Fair Grounds on the fifteenth inst.

The boys are drilling every evening, and will no doubt make one of the finest displays ever made by volunteer troops. Bets are running high on the result, and we have never seen the city wrought up to such a pitch before. It is true that the Lee monumental fund is to profit by the work which has been undertaken by Col. Fenner's battalion, and this idea stirs up patriotism to its very depths, but it must be admitted that there is also among our people that latent military spirit which now appears to be fully aroused.

The Mobile troops will join the battalion in showing what citizen soldiers can do when well trained.

A new feature has been introduced, which will be very popular. The mule race is revived, and high-bred hybrids will run over Mord additional sport and amusement to the visitors.
