On the 23d of December, the Terrible privateer (26 guns, 200 men) engaged and captured the Grand Alexander (400 tons, 22 guns, 100 men) from St. Domingo bound to Nantz after 2.5 hours, with 17 killed including Capt. Death's brother; put 40 hands on prize. On Dec. 28, while convoying prize to England, Vengeance privateer (St. Maloes, 36 guns, 360 men) retook prize and both attacked Terrible, shot away main mast, after 1.5 hour desperate engagement, Terrible captured.
