FRIDAY SUPPER.
This evening a grand supper and slight jolification is to come off at the Exchange Hotel, kept by Mr. More, as kind of celebration over the arrival of the locomotive in our town. This interesting and long expected period has at last arrived, and now we can look at the iron engine sending forth his sparks and hear the whistle blowing its warning notes to prepare us for the reception of our friends and fellow travelers, who come rolling along, with almost lightning speed.
The occasion will undoubtedly be a happy one; and we hope all who are present, will have perfect old-fashioned enjoyment. It is not to be wondered at our having a merry time over the great change in our mode of travel, and the progress of our country. Let the old fogies cry, woh! woh! but heed it not.— We will be happy to see some of our friends, who thought this road was going to ruin the country, coming in on the cars, with smiling faces. We know they will change their opinions in regard to the advantages of this great enterprise.— Two per cent, won't half pay the business done on the Pennsylvania, Ohio and Indiana road when it is completed. What do wise people think of this prediction?
