MRS. BEECHER SINKING.

At the residence of the Rev. Samuel Schoville, of Stamford, Conn., where his aged mother-in-law, Mrs. Henry Ward Beecher, has been critically ill for some weeks, it is stated that Mrs. Beecher is slowly failing. A month or two ago she went to visit her daughter in Stamford and there fractured her hip. The accident proved too much for her vitality, and after a brave struggle her family have about abandoned hope of her restoration to health. She was a graceful writer and intended to write a life of her husband from the mass of materials he left when he died.
