Event Details
Details of the sittings (extraordinary) of the French Tribunate. The discussions were on the motion of Curee, divided into three resolutions: 1. The government of Republick shall be confined to an Emperour. 2. The empire shall be hereditary in the family of Napoleon Buonaparte, now First Consul. 3. Such of our institutions as are only traced out, shall be definitively suppressed. The only tribune who had courage to inscribe his name against the motion was Carnot, formerly director, previous to the Revolution of 18 Fructidor year 5. His speech is full of animation, and of just remark, as far as it is transmitted to us.
