Full Text

The Evansville Journal exultingly refers to our having been defeated for the nomination for Mayoralty by a "young law student." Even if this were true, it would be no particular disgrace; but it is not true—it required the "young law student," an Irish magistrate and a "ring" to accomplish the end.—Vincennes Sun. No! we did not "exultingly refer." &c. We only congratulated the Vincennes editor on his defeat because it would give him so much more time to devote to his paper. The Vincennes Democracy preferred a young law student for Mayor to the veteran editor. We infer, therefore, that they regard Greene as a better editor than Mayor.
