NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS

POWELL FORD

Wm. Mason last Saturday rented 540 acres of corn land near Farber.

Wm. McMurtry delivered 5 hogs last Monday to Chas. Powell of Mexico at 5c a lb.

Miss Elizabeth Dowell of Benton City spent last week in this vicinity with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Dowell.

Mrs. Ellen Mason, after spending several weeks with relatives and friends, left last Tuesday for Columbia to visit her daughter, Miss Alicia Mason.

Mrs. J. P. Powell entertained last Friday the married ladies of the neighborhood in honor of her sister, Mrs. Ellen Mason, and the following evening she entertained a few of the young ladies. Miss Irma Johnson recited several of her selections, which was enjoyed very much. We appreciate the kindness of Mrs. James Powell and think her a splendid hostess.

Ab Dilliard of Laddonia is visiting relatives here.

M. N. Powell delivered 7 hogs last Monday to J. Roy of Mexico at $5.10 per cwt.

SUN RISE

John Byars' mother is spending the winter with his family. She is very old.

Mr. Reynolds' 400 acre farm, known as the west half of the Curtis place, rents for $1250 this year.

Eight of our young people—Nettie and Harry Starr, Carrie and John Baker, Ida Lowder, Lee and Tom Childers and Chas. Clark, went into Mr. McMehan's Saturday night and played flinch. The Misses McMehan served delicious refreshments. All report a delightful time.

Mrs. Douglass of Wellsville is visiting her son, Cale, and family.

Miss Clara Johnson and mother went to St. Louis Sunday to have Mrs. Johnson's eyes treated.

Protracted meeting began at the Baptist church in Benton Monday night.

Hamilton Bros. had a horse and mule sale Tuesday.

Ab Harrison has bought 2000 bbl. of corn this winter, feeding Arnold's cattle and hogs.
