Opening at New Castle on Monday—Six Capital Cases.
The November session of the New Castle County Courts will open at New Castle, on Monday morning, with Judges Gilpin, Wootten and Houston on the bench.
The session will be an unusually interesting one, as in addition to the license applications, a heavy criminal calendar and a long civil list, there will be six capital cases to be tried.
These cases are as follows:
Wm. H. Chadwick and Wm. O'Donnell, of Wilmington, charged with causing the death of their wives by brutal treatment.
Ex-Police Sergeant Daniel O'Neill, of Wilmington, for killing Sallie Doyle.
Wm. Whitlock, Sr., of Middletown, accessory to the murder of Wm. Furches, col.
Patrick Abren, of Townsend, for killing a tramp.
A negro named Pierce, of Kirkwood, for outraging a colored girl.
Chadwick will be defended by Hon. Thomas F. Bayard; O'Neill, by Chas. B. Lore, Esq.; O'Donnell by Levi C. Bird, Esq.; and Whitlock by Hon. William G. Whiteley. The others will probably have counsel assigned them by court.
As usual full daily reports of the Court proceedings will appear in the GAZETTE.
No additional trains will be run to New Castle during court, the regular trains being deemed sufficient by the Railroad company. They leave at 7:30 and 9:30, A. M., 1:25 and 6:40, P. M.
