Full Text

Captain Patterson, of the schr. Jefferson from Cape Francois, informs us that no reinforcements had arrived there lately, neither has any engagement of consequence taken place. The French have erected a number of block houses, and repaired the fortifications at the Cape, so as to be in a condition to hold out against any attack from the brigands. A few days before Capt. P. sailed, Capt. Touard, with a scouting party of about 250, had a skirmish with the brigands, in which the latter lost a number of horses and had several men taken prisoners: the French had 13 men killed. This affair took place within 7 miles to the leeward of the Cape.
