LOW RATES SECURED FOR ANNUAL MEETING
Program Includes Addresses and Discussions by Prominent Medicos of Diseases Common to Humanity, and a Banquet.
Dr. T. M. Henderson, secretary and treasurer of the Eastern Oregon District Medical society which is to hold its tenth annual gathering in this city during Wednesday and Thursday of fair week, is engaged in sending out invitations, announcements and programs to the physicians in Wallowa, Union, Malheur, Harney, Grant, Umatilla, Wheeler, Gilliam, Sherman, Wasco, Hood River and Morrow counties.
Dr. Henderson has secured round-trip rates of a fare and a third on nearly all of the roads in Washington and on all of the O.-W. R. & N. Co.'s lines in Oregon, the rates going into effect Sept. 9th and the return tickets being good until Saturday the 16th.
The full program for four sessions has been arranged, comprising principally addresses and discussions on various diseases. The address of welcome on Wednesday morning is to be delivered by Rev. Frank J. Milnes, new pastor of the Presbyterian church, who is to be followed by a welcoming address on behalf of the Pendleton and Umatilla county medical society by President R. E. Ringo.
The physicians who are scheduled to participate in the discussions include Dr. George S. Whiteside, Portland; Dr. M. K. Tall, La Grande; Dr. C. C. Shick, Ione; Dr. Ralph C. Walker, Portland; Dr. W. O. Spencer, Portland; Dr. Ernest F. Tucker, Portland; Dr. N. E. Winnard, Heppner; Dr. John B. Gregory, Wallowa; Dr. Jacob Prinzing, Ontario; Dr. O. D. Doane, The Dalles; Dr. Robt. Budd Markeet, Hot Lake; Dr. Malcolm Bronson, Hood River; Dr. I. U. Temple, Pendleton; Dr. C. J. Smith, Pendleton; Dr. H. L. Dumble, Hood River; and Dr. David Robinson, Mosier.
On Wednesday evening the members of the state board of health will discuss matters pertaining to the public health following which will be a program of entertainment and a banquet. On Thursday afternoon the entire delegation will adjourn to Round-Up Park where the program says they will "let 'er buck."
The officers of the association are Dr. E. O. Parker, Pendleton, president; Dr. L. M. Madden of Weston, vice-president; Dr. Jacob Prinzing, of Ontario, second vice-president; Dr. T. M. Henderson, secretary-treasurer.
The board of censors consists of Dr. Prinzing, Dr. Henderson and Dr. F. R. Dorn of Echo.
