Full Text

NEW-YORK, June 21.

From the westward we learn, that a number of hands are at work to compleat the road laid off last year from the Cats-kill, five miles south of Hudson to strike at the confluence of the river Oliout with the Otsego branch of the Susquehannah, 91 miles distant: this road is four rods wide--the country in general is uneven and rough; but with the bridges and causeways they are now making, it will in time be a tolerable good road. This new road will cross nearly at the source of the Susquehannah and Delaware, and may in part counteract the avaricious grasps of the Philadelphians, who are aiming to monopolize all the resources of our Western countries, as well as the fur trade of Canada.
