Full Text
The Texas Treaty by some means or other has found its way into the newspapers before its ratification or rejection by the Senate.
We give it in our paper this week, and recommend it to the careful reading of every one. There is nothing in it that is objectionable, but is every thing that a generous nation can require. It does honor to the patriotism and ability of the statesman who negotiated it on the part of the United States.
The Treaty was sent into the Senate on the 12th of April, and as thirty days is the time which that body has to act upon it, it has met its fate before this. Rumor respecting the probable action of the Senate are various and contradictory, but we hope to hear of the ratification of the treaty which has agitated our country from the centre to the circumference.
