Poplar O.E.S. Has Very Active Year
Report Indicates
Aurora Chapter No. 47 Order of Eastern Star, Poplar, has been active during the early spring months, as the following report shows.
March 27 the members served a dinner to 40 visiting and local Masons; collected and distributed a large amount of clothing and food for a family in distress; sent several pounds of material for cancer dressings to the unit cancer chairman; cards, gifts and money were sent to our adopted member in the Masonic Home on special days; prepared and presented an appropriate program and pageant for Good Friday.
Forty-one members of the chapter have engaged in some kind of youth work during the year, including teaching, Sunday school, Rainbow, 4-H, Girl Scout, Boy Scout and Cub Scout leaders, advisory board members, Band and Den Mothers.
Contributions: $35 to the Masonic Home project; Polio, $5.00; Cancer, $5.00; "For His Kingdom" scholarship, $10.00.
Past Worthy Matron, Vera Engles, presented the chapter with a fine electric clock for which the chapter expresses its thanks.
The chapter was saddened during the year by the death of two of its members, Audrey Manley, PWM, Poplar, and Alice Danielson, Pasadena, Calif., and a former member, Mabel Knight, Chicago.
