Quartermaster P. P. Pitkin is at home on a short leave of absence, after the most unremitting and arduous duties with the Army of the Potomac for many months. He has charge of receiving and forwarding supplies at the post at Belle Plain, on Potomac Creek, about six miles from Fredericksburg. The 2d Vermont is stationed there now, and Quartermaster Stone of that Regiment has charge of Capt. Pitkin's business in his absence. The Captain looks hale and hearty, and fully equal to the responsible positions in which his superior officers insist on placing him.
