A Girl Kills a Cougar.

Crawfordsville correspondent of the Brownsville Times furnishes the particulars of the killing of a very large cougar by Miss Etta Fruit. Miss Fruit and her sister live alone on a homestead about two miles above Crawfordsville, and have been annoyed considerably of late with all kinds of varmints. A few days ago a hog imprisoned in a small pen set up an unmerciful yell and Miss Fruit suspecting something wrong, secured a gun and started out to make an investigation. She soon discovered the fact that a large cougar was endeavoring to make way with her porker, but a well directed shot laid the thieving animal out thus riddling the community of one of its worst pests. Miss Fruit differs from the majority of her sex inasmuch as she does not take fright at the mere mention of a mouse.
