Communication Is Cut Off with Outside World--Much Damage.
VANCOUVER, B. C., May 15.--A delayed message from Dawson, dated May 11, stated the worst flood ever known in Dawson, caused the Yukon to overflow the banks and the city was flooded. The Administration buildings, Fire Hall, Bank of Commerce building and White Pass and Yukon Dock offices were seriously damaged. Many houses were under water and others floated away. The Radio Station was also reported out of commission. The north and south approaches of the Klondike bridge are impassable and the Yukon River was full of ice and the water was rising when the dispatch was filed. According to information obtainable at the local Cable Office, communication today is interrupted between Dawson and Whitehorse, and also between Egbert and Dawson. With the radio out of commission at Dawson, the Klondike metropolis is cut off from communication by air or wire from the remainder of the world.
