A New Orleans Man's Troubles.

A few days ago an Italian named Stephen Capella, accompanied by his pseudo wife, Pomella, arrived here from New Orleans. Saturday he had $1700 of United States bonds stolen from him, and suspecting his so-called wife of the larceny, entrusted the case to Detective J. W. Smith, who yesterday commenced a vigorous search for some clue to the thief and the bonds.

By dint of skillful ingenuity Detective Smith found that Pomella had stolen the bonds, and, to make a long story short, he induced her to confess the crime and place the bonds in his hands. The woman was arrested, and in order to avoid criminal prosecution, yesterday afternoon was united in marriage to Capella by Judge Miller, and the bonds were restored to the unfortunate husband. The case was worked up quickly and satisfactorily by Detective Smith, who is persevering and energetic in everything that he undertakes.—Memphis Appeal.
