AROUND CHEROKEE

Mr. and Mrs. Elen Browning, of Cullum's Well, visited their mother, Mrs. M. S. Browning, Tuesday.

Mr. Dudley Kendrick passed through Cherokee Friday.

Mr. J. C. Jones spent Saturday afternoon in Columbus.

Mrs. Jodie Green, of Columbus, but who is spending the while with her daughter, Mrs. Clyde Jones, contemplates visiting her son, Mr. Millard Green, of Birmingham, next week.

Mr. C. B. Stinson transacted business in Columbus Saturday.

Miss Clara Cox, of Cherokee, left Monday for Birmingham, while in the Magic City will be the guest of her cousin, Mr. and Mrs. I. Price, No. 4524 Avenue E, Birmingham, Ala.

The good ladies of our community are going right along with spring gardening.

The recent heavy rains have retarded farm work.

Mr. J. C. Jones has several teams on our thoroughfare grading it. We hope he may so improve the road that country people may drive into town, leave a few vegetables and other country produce and return home the same day, with a satisfaction of having fed the hungry and got the worth of his road tax.

Mr. Will Davis spent Sunday in Columbus the guest of his family.

Miss Ludie Andrews was at Mt. Zion Sunday School, Sunday.

The young folks of our town met Wednesday evening with Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Jones to practice sacred songs.

The Mt. Zion Sunday School has purchased a number of song books, "Hallelujah," and our people are getting ready to help the singers in the all-day singings that begin in early spring.

Mrs. C. B. Stinson purchased a flock of goats. We wonder what the ladies will think of doing next.

Some of our best traders or speculators are women. Some men just sit back and smoke and let the women have their own way.

"What is the world coming to; a fellow would like to know?"

Mr. Earl Jones and family, of Columbus, visited Cherokee, Sunday.
