The highwayman, described with a black wig, black complexion, black beard of 8 or 10 days growth, bluish riding coat, on a red roan scrubby horse with rough mane and coat, demanded the mare and bags, fired a pistol missing, then pursued and fired a second grazing the sleeve. Reynolds outrode him and escaped; highwayman had more pistols in a belt.
