Intelligence being received that a deserter was confined in the jail of Burlington, a considerable number of Gentlemen, belonging to the city militia, went last Saturday morning to inquire into the truth of it, and release the unfortunate man, which they performed, and brought him back with them. The poor fellow, when called for, was greatly affected, thinking he was going to be conveyed to his regiment, but when he discovered their intentions, he soon recovered himself, and was very thankful to his benefactors and deliverers.
