The Indian War.—Gen. Sheridan telegraphs the War Department that he has received a communication from Gen. Crook, conveying the information that he had followed the trail of the Indians until it could no longer be pursued. He had ten days' provisions, and would start immediately for the Black Hills. Twelve Indians came into the Cheyenne agency on the 7th to ask for terms for the hostiles and were disarmed and held as prisoners. Word was sent to the hostiles that they could come in on the same terms. It is also stated that Sitting Bull has been endeavoring to obtain recruits among the Chippewas, Pottawattomies and Menominees.
