Another terrible accident has occurred at the head of San Francisco bay, whereby twenty persons were instantly killed, and many others were wounded.

The steamer Jenny Lind, formerly plying between San Francisco and Sacramento, exploded the plate of her boiler, scattering death and destruction among all on board. The steamer was returning from a trip to Alviso and had on board one hundred and thirty passengers, of whom sixty were badly scalded and twenty killed. The survivors and dead were carried to San Francisco by the steamer Union. Among the scalded were eight ladies. Those killed and injured were nearly all of them old residents of San Francisco.
